Support in Cancer Care:
Frequently Asked Questions
How do your services work with my existing oncology team?
As an independent oncology nurse practitioners, we serve as your personal oncology expert and advocate, working in parallel with your existing medical team. Our private consultative service helps you navigate your diagnosis, understand treatment options, and manage symptoms while ensuring you get the most out of your current medical care.
What makes your service different from the nurse navigator at my hospital?
Hospital-based nurse navigators are employees of the healthcare system and are often tasked with keeping patients within their network of providers, which may not always align with finding the absolute best care options for your specific situation. Additionally, they typically manage hundreds of patients, limiting their ability to provide in-depth, personalized attention. As your private oncology consultant, We work solely for you. We provide objective guidance about all available options, dedicated one-on-one support, and can help you seek second opinions or explore treatment options across different healthcare systems to ensure you're getting the best possible care for your specific situation.
At what point in my cancer journey can I start working with you?
You can benefit from my services at any stage - from initial testing and diagnosis through active treatment and beyond. Some clients seek support when first diagnosed to better understand their options, while others reach out during treatment when managing symptoms becomes challenging. There's no wrong time to ask for additional support.
Will my insurance cover your services?
Our services are private pay and intentionally operate outside of insurance constraints. This means we can spend the time needed to truly understand your situation, provide in-depth education and support, and offer comprehensive symptom management strategies without the limitations that insurance companies typically impose on medical visits. Many clients find this freedom allows for a more thorough and personalized approach to their care. While insurance doesn't cover our services, you may be able to use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for reimbursement.
